Notes: The Cashmere Sanatorium was opened in 1910 to care for patients with consumption (pulmonary tuberculosis, or 'TB'); Coronation Hospital, on the same site, was opened in 1913, and a Military Sanatorium was built 1918 to care for WWI returned servicemen. As medical care improved and cases of TB declined from the 1950s, the institution which became known collectively as Coronation Hospital, was refocused to care for the elderly.
