For some time I have been trying to trace, Thomas Mayes, the father of my grandmother Louisa Mayes (Sept 1893 Fulham 1a 300)and her siblings Maud,(1886 Brentford 3a 109)Edith,(Dec 1889 Fulham 1a 214)and Edward(Jun 1890 Fulham 1a 225). Their mother,Dinah Louisa Rebecca Drake,(Dec 1857 Staines 3a 9),was, in 1881 with her husband in Fulham. He died in 1899 and I can find no record of Dinah marrying again untill 1903 when she used the name of her first husband. In 1891 Dinah is in Fulham(RG12 48 85 44)with the children and "MAY, Horace T".I believe this to be Thomas Horace Browne Mayes,(Jun 1851
Depwade 13 39). I have found him in 1861 and 1871 with his grandparents, Thomas and Charlotte, in Norfolk but unable to find him in 1881. Do you think I have the right person ? Have you any idea what he may have been doing between 1871 and 1886 ? I find it quite intrigueing ! You have obviously done a lot of research to compile your tree, it's extensive ! Any advice would be appreciated. Regards, Lucille Robinson. (Hoping you get it this time !) |

Please email me if you would like to have a copy of the Fleets list 1964 .We sailed together in Perim.

Hi! We sailed together on the Perim I was Third Officer. Captain was Haggas, Chief officer Ellingham (Ex Orient Line) 2nd Officer Lyon and 4th Officer Woodhead.
The other cadets were Syrett, Woodger and Blencowe. I can't remember if you were Warsash but would be delighted to hear from you. Were you on the Surat when she grounded? I sailed 3 years with Freddy Irons and it was bound to happen sooner or later. Drop me a line. I have the 1964 Fleet List also if you want a copy. |

Found your site whilst researching Ayton family from Itteringham. My family on father's side originates from there. Found your site most interesting and wonder what the Grimsby/ N E Lincs connection is?

I am interested in your entry for Ronald Frederick Batch KIA January 1945 as I believe that the pilot of Ron's Mosquito was Flt Lt Leslie Graham whose family I have been researching. I wondered whether the location of the death indicator pin on thr map is accurate or whether it is general for Germany? I thought Leslie and Ron were operating close to the Nederlands border that night, but I would be interested if you have further information on the crash site. I have obtained a copy of Leslie Grahams headstone from the Wargraves Photographic Project for a small fee. I imagine they may have one of Ron's grave too
